"Purpose" 😂

Friend, I can't lie.

I don't subscribe to the idea that we need to discover our purpose.

I believe our purpose is to simply be of service.

Of service to ourselves and to other people.

It doesn’t need to be any more complicated.

And to say you need to 'discover' that is absurd. 

What I do entertain is the idea of Ikigai, a Japanese term that can be translated as ‘a reason to live’.

This image brings life to that term:

Finding your purpose isn't the difficult part.

What’s difficult is figuring out how you enable the purpose.

How can you truly help yourself and others in all facets?

This is why I find the Ikigai diagram so powerful.

There are 4 key questions that you need to ask yourself:

1. What do I love?

2. What does the world need?

3. What can I be paid for?

4. What am I good at?

You need time to figure this out.

And no, don't just go away and brainstorm.

That'll be a fruitless task.

Instead, be guided by these questions and try new things.

The harsh truth is most people only scratch the surface of life.

They continue to be guided by society rather than these questions, never really giving themselves a sense of meaning. 

Those with a reason to live lead a path they have decided to take.

They don’t walk with foggy vision, guided by the crowd.

You must dive deeply into what you truly desire out of life.

Only then, does:

Apathy turn into excitement.

Stagnation into possibility.

Boredom into entertainment.

You'll eventually reach a point where you understand what needs to be done, how it needs to be done, and why.

The key is to live with intent.

Then you’ll see past the inevitable dark days you're gonna face on your journey.
