The Growth Mindset
It's You Against Your Mind
People with a growth mindset believe their abilities, intelligence, and talent can be cultivated through learning.
Those with a fixed mindset think these can’t be changed.
So, instead of working to improve their shortcomings, they blame others and complain.
Don’t be someone with a fixed mindset…
This is how you can unlock the full potential of your brain ↓
Believe in change:
The first step to having a growth mindset is to believe that you (and everyone around you) are capable of change.
Those with a fixed mindset believe that their abilities are set and incapable of change.
Those with a growth mindset believe their abilities constantly evolve through effort, consistency, and time.
See everything as a learning opportunity:
Being able to recognize that there is a lesson for every success or hardship is a crucial element of having a growth mindset.
Whether you've failed or succeeded, there's always something to be learned from those experiences.
Making a conscious effort to extract those lessons and apply them in the future can help you to evolve into a better person.
Embrace failure:
Failure indicates that you're challenging yourself or trying something new.
Embracing failure can help you enhance your current abilities and encourage you to learn new things.
The key to embracing failure is to detach the outcome from your identity.
It’s important to remember:
You're not a failure.
You've just encountered it.
The best thing that you can do for yourself is to learn from failure and try again.
And again.
And again.
Seek feedback:
You can't learn anything new if you think you already know it all.
Being able to seek out feedback is integral for your personal development.
The goal here is to use that feedback to help you tweak any weaknesses that you might've been oblivious to.
However, remember to be conscious of whom you accept constructive feedback, and to not confuse criticism with constructive criticism.
By building a brand with over 1,000,000 followers on Instagram, I’ve been able to connect with some incredibly talented people.
I make it a priority to seek their advice on new ideas I have or to learn more about their craft.
Challenge yourself often:
Challenge yourself often by constantly learning new things or increasing the level of difficulty for the things that you already know.
Challenging yourself often will get you into the habit of embracing failure and feedback, and learning from them.
Focus on becoming better, not being the best:
Ironically, wanting to be the best can actually stop you from becoming a better version of yourself.
When you focus on being the best, you're in constant rivalry with those around you, paying attention to their metrics and progress.
Instead, make the shift inward, focusing on how you can continue to strengthen your abilities.
And that’s a wrap, Friend.
